HomeDitty Founder Katie Byers to Speak at Square One DSM Startup Stories
GREATER DES MOINES, IA – Katie Byers, Founder and CEO of HomeDittyTM, will be the guest speaker at the October Square One DSM Startup Stories event. Startup Stories is a monthly networking event geared toward entrepreneurs, investors and those interested in entrepreneurship that features an interview-style presentation with Square One DSM Executive Director Mike Colwell. The October event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust St.
HomeDitty is a web-based software built specifically for house concert hosts. Byers is a former attorney-turned-entrepreneur who is an avid music lover and frequent attendee at many local shows and festivals. Three years ago, she began hosting a monthly house concert series in her home to benefit local and touring musicians. She quickly discovered that she had found her passion in life and decided to create a way to get more people across the country hosting house concerts. She founded HomeDitty and launched the software into BETA testing on Feb. 1 this year. Byers was recently honored as the 2017 David Hurd Community Supporter of the Year from the Des Moines Music Coalition.
Byers will talk about her journey and lessons learned as an entrepreneur. Cowell will begin the presentation by interviewing Byers, and then take questions from the audience.
The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration includes a $15 admission fee for lunch; the event is free for attendees who choose not to sign up for a lunch.
