Executive Forum on Diversity and Inclusion is Nov. 16

October 31, 2017

The Greater Des Moines Partnership will host its Fifth Annual Executive Forum on Diversity and Inclusion on Thursday, Nov. 16, to cultivate a community conversation surrounding inclusion opportunities in the region. Yasmine Mustafa, a tech entrepreneur, community leader and advisor, will be the keynote speaker.

Championing the underprivileged has been a core part of Mustafa’s identity since her family was rescued from the Persian Gulf War. After growing her first company, an affiliate marketing company helping writers monetize their content, she sold it to a prominent content marketing firm in Silicon Valley. Once she received her naturalization status, Mustafa embarked on a six-month solo trek across South America which inspired her to found her latest venture, ROAR for Good, a self-defense wearable technology company aimed at diminishing attacks against women and addressing the underlying causes of violence. Mustafa has been selected as one of the BBC’s “100 Women of 2016” as well as one of Upstart Business Journal’s Upstart 100 list of the most dynamic people shaping business.

In addition to the keynote, other discussions will explore the inclusion journey of organizations in Greater Des Moines (DSM) and the opportunities for businesses to better utilize untapped talent in the community. Other presenters will include Kate Hightshoe, Director of Hubbell Community Management, Dr. Rich Salas, Director of Multicultural Affairs at Des Moines University and the two winners of The Partnership’s Inclusion Award that will be announced on Nov. 14.

Presenting sponsors for the event are Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and Veridian Credit Union. Supporting sponsors are Nationwide and the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. More sponsorship spots are available.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Airport Holiday Inn, 6111 Fleur Drive. See the full schedule and register at DSMpartnership.com/events.
