Downtown Farmers' Market October Hours
The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines will adjust its hours for the month of October to begin one hour later. Shop in the Historic Court District from 8 a.m. to Noon every Saturday through Oct. 25.
“This is our second year starting an hour later in October,” says Kelly Foss, Director of the Downtown Farmers’ Market. “We made this change in response to feedback from our Vendor Advisory Committee about how dark it is for setup this time of year, moving the start time back an hour provides a little more daylight for vendors to set up their stands and be ready for market patrons to arrive at 8 a.m.”
Trick-or-treat at The Market the last Saturday of the season, Oct. 25! The Downtown Farmers’ Market encourages market patrons (and their dogs) to dress up in costumes to celebrate Halloween.
The Downtown Farmers’ Market supports nearly 300 local entrepreneurs including farmers, producers, bakers, artists and more, representing 58 counties across the state of Iowa. The Market was recently featured in an article ranking Des Moines as the “#1 Up-and-Coming city For Foodies” by Women’s Health Magazine. The Winter Market will be held Nov. 21-22 and Dec. 12-13 at Capital Square and Kaleidoscope at The Hub and will feature more than 130 vendors, holiday shopping, entertainment and more!
