Learn from Local Small Business Owners at First Fridays Series
GREATER DES MOINES – Iowa Center for Economic Success' Women's Business Center and the Greater Des Moines Partnership will host their next First Friday event of 2017 on July 7. The event features Leng Vong Reiff, founder of Akili Design/Agora Des Moines.
First Friday is an opportunity for savvy, successful business owners and entrepreneurs in Greater Des Moines (DSM) to share their stories. The First Friday series gives a chance for attendees to catch some words of wisdom from women who have experienced entrepreneurship first-hand. Past speakers include Julie McGuire of Zanzibar, Liz Lidgett of Adore Your Walls and Emma Walsmith of Tikly.
Sessions are free and open to the public from Noon to 1 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. Locations rotate among The Iowa Center, the Greater Des Moines Partnership and Gravitate Valley Junction. The July event will be held at The Iowa Center’s office at 8345 University Blvd., Suite 1F in Clive.
Reiff has run her own marketing business since September 2007. Akili Design and Marketing Services provides services such as web design and SEO, graphic design and traditional marketing services to a variety of clients. Along with her experience in online marketing, Reiff is skilled at managing budgets, timelines and event planning so that her clients execute their goals while simultaneously creating smooth project coordination. In October 2016, Reiff took over the space on Hickman Road in Windsor Heights that she turned into Agora Events Center. Agora is a space for weddings and events.
Reiff graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in design and in journalism/advertising with minors in art history and Spanish. In addition, Reiff has won multiple prestigious awards including American Marketing Association NOVA Awards, a national Planned Parenthood Federation of America award, American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards and Art Directors Association of Iowa awards. She was honored in Cityview Magazine’s Best of Des Moines “Top 3, Best Marketing Agencies” category for three years running.
