Connect Downtown

Connect Downtown, an initiative led by the City of Des Moines, Urban Land Institute Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Partnership, identifies opportunities to make getting around Downtown Des Moines (DSM) safer, more comfortable and convenient. Improving access to and within Downtown DSM, regardless of whether you walk, bike, drive or take transit, will help continue to build on the current momentum and vibrancy in Downtown DSM.

East Grand Pilot

The East Grand Avenue Pilot Project includes a lane reconfiguration to include two travel lanes, on-street parking and protected bicycle lanes. These changes are designed to slow down traffic without significantly reducing commute times, create parking and make the area more walkable and easier to navigate.
