Greater Des Moines Partnership President Gene Meyer named Cy's Favorite Alum 2015
Greater Des Moines Partnership President Gene Meyer has been named Cy’s Favorite Alum for 2015 by the Iowa State University Athletics Department. He will be recognized on Saturday, Oct. 3 in an on-field presentation during the first-quarter break of the Iowa State University vs. Kansas University football game at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.
Gene began following the Cyclones in 1977 and has been a season ticket holder and Cyclone Club member for many years. This award recognizes his integration of Iowa State athletics into the Greater Des Moines community and his embodiment of the Cyclone spirit through his dedication, enthusiasm and support.
“This is a significant honor for Gene and we are all very happy for him. This confirms what we already know about him – that he works tirelessly to promote the Central Iowa region as a great place to live and work,” said Greater Des Moines Partnership CEO Jay Byers.
“Gene’s service to the Central Iowa community is evident through his outstanding leadership,” said Cultivation Corridor Executive Director Brent Willett. “This award speaks to his commitment to connecting the region in new and innovative ways, as he has worked to do with our Cultivation Corridor initiative.”
Since 1955, the prestigious Cy’s Favorite Alum award honors loyal alums or friends of the athletics department who have demonstrated outstanding support.
