Greater Des Moines Partnership Issues Request For Proposals For Office Space Lease

May 1, 2014

The Greater Des Moines Partnership today issued a request for proposals (RFP) from commercial property managers for leased space to house The Partnership office in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). The Partnership is seeking a ten-year lease agreement and anticipates commencement likely in early 2015, perhaps sooner.

The Partnership has been temporarily displaced from its previous location at 700 Locust, due to smoke and water damage resulting from the fire at the former Younkers building. The Partnership established operations on the seventh floor at Two Ruan Center, 601 Locust St. on March 30, 2014. The existing lease at 700 Locust which expires on November 30, 2014, was extended in 2009 at the conclusion of an RFP process, and extended the Partnership’s occupancy beyond the initial ten-year lease period. All proposals meeting the identified needs of the organization are welcome, and The Partnership expects to consider its previous location at 700 Locust, its current location at Two Ruan Center, as well as other potential locations.

Proposals submitted by the May 30, 2014 deadline will be reviewed by The Partnership’s Finance Committee in conjunction with internal staff, which will make a recommendation to The Partnership’s Executive Committee. A decision is anticipated within the subsequent 90 days.

The Partnership’s RFP will be made available upon request.

RFP specs include but are not limited to:

  • Visibility in a downtown location
  • Street and/or Skywalk access
  • Adequate square footage to accommodate 40 FTEs and seasonal interns and part-time support for events
  • Adjacent parking to accommodate staff and frequent visitors
  • Meeting space to accommodate a minimum of 100 people

For more information or to request the RFP, contact Kirk Irwin, CAO, at the Greater Des Moines Partnership at (515) 286-4950.
