Global Insurance Accelerator Wins International Award

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (October 3, 2018) — The Greater Des Moines Partnership received a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award for the Global Insurance Accelerator in the category of Multi Year Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

The honor was presented at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 2, during the IEDC Annual Conference, which was held Sept. 29 – Oct. 3, in Atlanta, Ga.

The Global Insurance Accelerator is a mentor-driven business accelerator designed to foster innovation in the insurance industry by supporting startups targeting the global insurance industry. To date, it has hosted four classes and a total of 26 companies in its 100-day program. The accelerator has received wide support from companies in the insurance industry, with investment from Allstate, American Equity Life Insurance Company, Delta Dental of Iowa, EMC Insurance Company, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Farmers Mutual Hail, Grinnell Mutual, IMT Insurance Company, Markel Corporation, Mutual of Omaha and Principal. The accelerator was originated by the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
