Global Insurance Accelerator Adds Techstars Alum To Team

October 3, 2015

The Global Insurance Accelerator (GIA), an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the leading insurance-only accelerator in the world, has announced the addition of a key new member of their team. John Jackovin, who recently took his own startup Bawte through Techstars in Boulder, Colo., will be joining the team to help expand all aspects of the accelerator.

“John’s background as a founder going through one of the leading accelerators in the world, along with his work as a mentor to both the GIA and Iowa Startup Accelerator makes him the perfect addition. This is a strategic move to build the program’s expansion and take the GIA to the next level,” said Brian Hemesath, Managing Director of the GIA.

Jackovin’s experience going through Techstars adds tremendous experience and value as the GIA focuses more on programming, marketing, mentor relations, investor expansion and many other areas. Jackovin officially began his work with the GIA on September 21, in a contract role slated through the end of 2015, with potential extension of the engagement into 2016.

“Techstars was an incredible experience for me and my team,” Jackovin said. “I hope to be able to bring the same level of intensity, quality and passion from Boulder to Des Moines and the GIA. The time a team spends in an accelerator should be truly transformative and I intend to help Brian with that goal.”
