Entrepreneurs Share Success Stories of Raising Capital in Iowa

February 24, 2017

DES MOINES, IA — The Iowa Economic Development Authority, Square One DSM, an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership and NewBo-Co have launched a web page that highlights the successes of Iowa entrepreneurs who have raised capital for their startup companies. The I Raised in Iowa page includes information and testimonials from more than 40 startup companies in Iowa that were able to raise investment capital. Click here to view the page.

The web page was created to show entrepreneurs that Iowa is a great place to start a business. Each entrepreneur featured in the portal shares advice for fellow entrepreneurs.

“The I Raised in Iowa web page provides proof in the form of powerful testimonials that entrepreneurs can raise money in Iowa,” said Debi Durham, Director at the Iowa Economic Development Authority. “It further highlights the robust startup activity happening in our state and shows entrepreneurs outside Iowa that they can be successful by moving to the state.”

The web page currently exists on the websites of a number of organizations that have partnered with the initiative, including Plains Angels, the Iowa Venture Capital Association, StartupDesMoines.com, VentureNet, Iowa Startup Accelerator, the Iowa Small Business Development Center, the Iowa Entrepreneurial and Small Business Development Center, IASourceLink, Square One DSM and the Iowa Center for Economic Success.

“We are thankful to everyone who has contributed to this effort to build the startup ecosystem in Iowa,” said Mike Colwell, Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This is an ongoing project, and we are seeking to expand the number of entrepreneurs contributing content as well as the number of organizations that host the page within their site.”

Entrepreneurs interested in sharing their story and organizations that would like to host the web page should contact Colwell by email at mike@squareoneDSM.com or by phone at (515) 259-0380.
