Calling All DSM USA Interns to Seize the City This Summer

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (May 18, 2018) — Seize the City, the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s summer intern series, will return this summer. Open to all interns and college students working in Greater Des Moines (DSM), Seize the City is a series of networking, community engagement and professional development opportunities. The Partnership launches the series with a kickoff event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, 909 Robert D. Ray Drive in Des Moines.

The series features opportunities for summer interns to engage with business and community leaders, young professionals and other interns while connecting them to the region’s quality of life amenities and professional development opportunities. All events are free to attend. The full schedule includes:

Wednesday, May 30

Kickoff, sponsored by Bankers Trust at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.

Wednesday, June 13

Networking and Business Etiquette, sponsored by Nationwide at the Nationwide Campus.

Tuesday, June 26

Special Event Co-Hosted with Ames Chamber of Commerce in Ames.

Wednesday, July 11

Creating Your Personal Brand, sponsored by Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines at the Des Moines Social Club’s Kum & Go Theater.

Wednesday, July 25

Transferrable Skills and Mentorship, hosted at The Partnership’s office.

Wednesday, Aug. 1 

Send-Off Event — Work/Life Balance, sponsored by John Deere at Curate. 

Interns that participate in three or more of the events will receive a Mastery of Community Leadership Certificate — a special designation created by The Partnership for Seize the City participants — upon completion. In addition, all interns will have an opportunity to enjoy a small group breakfast or lunch with executives from the community.
