6th Annual Inclusion Forum is Nov. 16

2018 Inclusion Forum

October 24, 2018

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Oct. 24, 2018) — The sixth annual Inclusion Forum is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 16. The Inclusion Forum will cultivate a community conversation surrounding diversity and inclusion opportunities in Greater Des Moines (DSM). The event’s theme is “Sharing Best Practices, Celebrating Success and Inspiring Action.”

Dr. Jennifer Harvey, author of the books “Dear White Christians” and “Raising White Kids: Bringing up Children in a Racially Unjust America,” will be the keynote speaker. She will present on the tools needed to build stronger multi-racial connections and supportive relationships across differences. A Professor at Drake University, Dr. Harvey’s premise is that the desire to build alliances is often stronger than the tools people have to make it happen, especially when it comes to racial difference. Learning more about how racial differences affect the country can inspire action for people to create stronger multi-racial relationships.

Principal’s OneABILITY Employee Resource leaders will discuss the power of storytelling. Attendees can hear what best practices they learned that can be leveraged in other organizations and in the community to drive inclusion. Another discussion will focus on tools to access untapped talent.

To celebrate success, the Inclusion Forum will recognize the 2018 Inclusion Award Winners, honoring employers who have championed diversity and inclusion at their businesses and organizations and in the community.

Presenting sponsors for the event are Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and Wells Fargo. Supporting sponsors are Principal, Veridian Credit Union and Nationwide.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. – Noon at the Hilton Des Moines Downtown hotel, 435 Park Street.
