2019 Downtown Farmers' Market Wraps Up This Saturday

DTFM Season End

The 2019 Downtown Farmers’ Market season comes to an end this week in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). The final Market will be held from 8 a.m. until Noon Saturday, October 26. Don’t miss your chance to buy from your favorite local vendors, including those with items for the fall season. From applies to squash to unique gifts, this is your opportunity to support Iowa sellers by shopping local in your community!

Accessible Shopping

Mosey down to Court Avenue, near Polk County Courthouse at 500 Mulberry Street, where nine blocks of vendors offer Saturday morning fun for groups of friends or the whole family. Parking is simple, too. Park and ride or take advantage of the free Dart D-Line shuttle. There are paid meters and parking garages surrounding The Market. If you’re an avid cyclist, you might want to take advantage of the convenient bike valet, located inside the Terrus Real Estate Group parking ramp at Second Street and Court Avenue.

After The Market

After The Market ends at Noon, take advantage of your time in Downtown DSM by enjoying lunch at Fong’s Pizza or Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company. Or, head to the Science Center of Iowa & Blank IMAX Dome Theater with the entire family for a fun afternoon of science and discovery. A walk along the Principal Riverwalk is beautiful this time of year as well. Make your way to the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge, a downtown landmark honoring women of Iowa, and see the development taking place a little further north at Lauridsen Skatepark, set to be one of the largest skateparks in the nation.

The Historic East Village is just a short distance away from The Market as well. If you’re looking to find a few more shopping options, you won’t be disappointed with the Historic East Village’s boutiques and more.
