Like in any large metropolitan area, arts and culture are key to enhancing a city's vibrancy. In Downtown DSM, there are a growing number of attractions that promote the arts. Watch performances at the Des Moines Civic Center. See the Ballet Des Moines or the Des Moines Symphony. Visit the Pappajohn Sculpture Park or one of the many Downtown DSM art galleries. The Des Moines Social Club offers up a variety of opportunities to find engaging entertainment and Hoyt Sherman Place, a beauty all its own, brings an array of performers to create in its historic space.
Getting Around Downtown DSM
Downtown DSM's wayfinding system makes it easy to get around, directing traffic and pedestrians to major destinations, as well as to public parking. Just follow the blue signs! The streamlined signage doesn't stop outside. Downtown DSM's four miles of connected skywalks are easily navigated thanks to updated signage. You can get anywhere in the city in less than 20 minutes by bike. Check out BCycle if you don't have your own!
