Seek Out Ornaments This Month in Downtown DSM

The Hide and Seek Ornaments You Keep pop-up activation event in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) is back! In 2021, find handmade ornaments placed by local artists in different locations across the Western Gateway, Historic Court District, the Historic East Village and central Downtown DSM neighborhoods. Beginning tomorrow, join in on the fun by using clues on social media to find your own ornament, then shop local by stopping in at nearby retailers, restaurants and attractions.

Participate with Friends + Family

Ornament photos will post to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for @downtownDSMUSA at various times each day and participants are encouraged to share a photo of your own (limit one per family) using the hashtags #downtownDSM and #DSMlocal if you find one. While this ornament is free, we also encourage you to seek out each artist online to support them, too. Ornaments make perfect stocking stuffers and Secret Santa gifts!

The event will kick off with ornaments by Hanna Piepel on Friday, Dec. 3, followed by Tim Schmitt and returning artist Nicole James (2020 ornaments pictured) on Saturday, Dec. 4 and Jess Quinn and returning artist Molly Spain (2020 ornament pictured) on Sunday, Dec. 5.
