Hide and Seek Ornaments You Keep Returns to Downtown DSM in December
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Nov. 3, 2021) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership has announced that the free, fun pop-up activation called Downtown DSM Hide and Seek Ornaments You Keep will return this holiday season to encourage people from across the region to visit Downtown Des Moines (DSM) and support local.
Each day from Friday, Dec. 3 to Sunday, Dec. 12, local artists will be placing handmade ornaments in different locations in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Ornaments will be hidden in trees and other areas near retailers, restaurants and attractions in Western Gateway, Historic Court District, central Downtown and the Historic East Village to encourage patrons to shop local while participating in the scavenger hunt.
“This activation showcases local artists and encourages people from across the region to explore Downtown DSM while embracing winter,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, Chief Operations Officer at the Greater Des Moines Partnership and President of Downtown DSM, Inc. “We hope that this activation will add moments of surprise and delight for participants and provide another reason for people to support local retailers and restaurants while searching for ornaments throughout Downtown DSM.”
Artists will make sure that ornaments are easily accessible and will post pictures and clues on the whereabouts of the ornaments each day using #downtownDSM and #DSMlocal. Interested individuals can find more information as well as ornament photos by following @downtownDSMUSA on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Participants who find an ornament are invited to share a photo of themselves with the ornament for social media and then take it home with them. Please limit to one ornament per family.
