Reimagine Downtown Des Moines (DSM) Through Adventure Stories
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Aug. 4, 2021) – Visitors and residents will have a chance to explore Downtown Des Moines (DSM) through vibrant storytelling and creative urban interventions through the Downtown DSM Adventure Stories series.
Downtown DSM neighborhoods will transform into five unique adventure stories with more than 20 activated locations. Adventurers will discover new nooks and crannies of Downtown DSM as they dive in the immersive world, with chapters hidden near well-known spaces. The first two stories will be revealed on August 18 in central Downtown. New adventure stories will be released every Wednesday until Sept. 8.
“Downtown DSM Adventure Stories will give residents and visitors an opportunity to explore Downtown in a different way than they ever have before,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, Chief Operations Officer at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “We hope participants will take their family and friends through the stories as they experience the uniqueness of Downtown Des Moines and support local businesses.”
All Downtown DSM Adventure Stories will be broken up into a set of chapters. Each chapter will be marked on-site with visuals that include a special QR code. Adventurers will use their smart phone to scan each QR code and read the corresponding chapter. Every chapter will include an interactive Adventure Challenge activity, like sketching a faraway planet or capturing a photo of a slithering reptile, that allows adventurers to engage even further with story. There will also be a clue included at the end of each chapter that will lead then to the next stop on their journey. Each story will include four – six chapters.
