Polk County Health Department to Provide Vaccines at Greater Des Moines Partnership Out to Lunch Event on July 15

July 13, 2021

DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (July 13, 2021) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership has announced a partnership with the Polk County Health Department to provide on-site COVID-19 vaccines at The Partnership’s next Out to Lunch event on Thursday, July 15 from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Out to Lunch features food trucks and vendors along with live music, and is free and open to the public. Thursday’s entertainer is local artist Sara Routh. The activation is part of The Partnership's Glad You're Here | Love Downtown DSM series to encourage residents to explore Downtown DSM as more people begin to participate in Downtown activities and return to the office this summer.

During the event, clinic nurses will be stationed on High Street between seventh and eighth Streets. No appointment will be required. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be available for individuals 12 years of age and older and requires two doses. Individuals can receive their second dose of the vaccine 21 days after their first dose at Polk County Health Department.

“Out to Lunch offers Downtown workers, residents and visitors an opportunity during the workday to get outdoors and experience the vibrancy of Downtown DSM while enjoying food from local vendors and live entertainment,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, Chief Operations Officer at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “Polk County offering access to vaccines to those attending the event is a wonderful perk for those who need their first shot.”

Any individual who is vaccinated at the Out to Lunch event will receive two admission tickets to the Iowa State Fair and be entered into a drawing to win $50,000. For more information on the vaccination process, Polk County Health Department encourages participants to call (515) 286-3798 and to visit the CDC coronavirus webpage.

Out to Lunch is produced by the Greater Des Moines Partnership and sponsored by MidAmerican Energy Company, Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART). Businesses and organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities should contact Josie Burgett, Downtown Activation Manager at The Partnership. Following Thursday’s event, there are two more scheduled Out to Lunch events on Thursday, July 22 and Thursday, July 29.
