Carrie Kruse Named Vice President of Downtown Development at Greater Des Moines Partnership

Carrie KruseGREATER DES MOINES, IA (March 24, 2022) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership has named Carrie Kruse, CPA, MBA, CGMA, as its Vice President of Downtown Development. In the role, Kruse will lead The Partnership’s efforts in helping businesses relocate to and expand in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) and work collaboratively with community partners to advance placemaking, community development and economic development projects. Kruse will begin her role at The Partnership on April 11.

Kruse has held several roles with the City of Des Moines, including her current role as Economic Development Administrator, in addition to her prior role as Economic Development Coordinator and Research and Budget Analyst. Kruse previously worked as CFO at the City of Windsor Heights and as a financial accountant for American Republic Insurance Company.

“With Carrie’s deep knowledge of finances and dynamic economic development deals, she is well-positioned for this role at The Partnership,” said Tiffany Tauscheck, Chief Operations Officer at The Partnership and President of Downtown DSM, Inc. “She has a passion for Downtown and brings creative solutions and ideas, and she will be a key leader in our community as we collectively reimagine and create the future of Downtown DSM.”

As an avid cyclist and public transit rider, Kruse serves on Des Moines Regional Transit Authority’s (DART’s) Transit Riders Advisory Committee. She is on the Board of Directors for Pivotal Partners (formerly known as the Corporation for Economic Development in Des Moines), is Chair of the Government Performance and Accountability Committee of the American Institute of Certified Professional Accountants, and serves on the City Finance Committee for the State of Iowa Boards and Commissions.

“I have had the opportunity to work closely with The Partnership’s team and discovered a passion for economic development after learning about The Partnership’s work several years ago,” Kruse said. “Downtown DSM’s success is a driver of growth for the entire region, and I look forward to working with so many community partners to ensure continued momentum.”

Kruse is a Simpson College alum with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. She earned her MBA from Drake University with an emphasis in Accounting. Kruse is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Community Leadership Program and Community Connect Program.
