Wednesday – Sunday Each Week | Water Works Park
Tucked beneath the trees at Water Works Park, Des Moines Biergarten is open Wednesdays through Sundays all season long, bringing a taste of Bavaria to the heart of DSM. This pop-up beer garden serves frosty steins of local and German brews alongside brats, pretzels, currywurst fries and more. Come for the shade, stay for the live music, food trucks and yard games. Friday’s lineup features favorites like Harrington’s Diner Car, Hotel Luna and Baan Vaan Ice Cream & Goodies. Or swing by Sunday for Local Bands, Brews & Bikes (1–4 p.m.). Jazz in July

This is the second-to-last week of Jazz in July and it’s not one to miss. The evening kicks off with the Seth Rezek Quartet at 5:30 p.m., followed by Shorter Stories: The Music of Wayne Shorter at 6:30 — a seven-piece ensemble that reimagines the jazz legend’s work with energy and soul. Grab food and drinks from on-site vendors, bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a gorgeous evening of music outside Hoyt Sherman Place. Thanks to Principal Foundation and local jazz experts like John Krantz, this free summer concert series keeps bringing the magic.
