Iowa Choreography Festival

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28 at Lauridsen Amphitheatre at Water Works Park in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) is the 2022 Iowa Choreography Festival, a free immersive experience that will showcase artist collaborations. The grounds will open at 5 p.m. for a donation-based yoga session, with dancers taking the stage at 6 p.m. to start the show.

Also on location during the event? Food vendors, Karam’s Mediterranean Grill and Over The Top Ice Cream, along with donation-based wine and beer options. Art vendors on site will highlight local artists, including Gabi Watkins, Molly Freese, Morgan Seemann, Sophie Savage, Ozge Ozdemir and Micah McCutchan. Iowa Choreography Festival

Yoga Class

Attend the yoga session prior to the start of the Iowa Choreography Festival with local yogi Cady Colosimo. You don’t have to be an expert to attend — beginners are welcome! The session will focus on deep stretching, relaxing and releasing.

Dance + Movement Workshop

From Aug. 24-27, a three-day workshop will take place, with a select number of workshop attendees performing at the festival.

2022 Iowa Choreography Festival

The Dance and Movement Workshop will take place from 5 – 9 p.m. Aug. 24-27 at Des Moines Danzarts Studio, 2150 Delavan Dr. #8, West Des Moines. The workshop will welcome NYC and LA dance professionals, including Dora Novak, Luke Dakota Zender and Cody Potter.

Dora Novak

Dora Novak grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and is based in New York City. She started her love for dance with Iowa Dance Theater and continues to serve on their board and work as an artistic director. Dora attended SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory and created the Iowa Choreography Festival.
