Event Information
Description
The Des Moines Choral Society concludes its 46th season with "To Peace, To Music," a program anchored by Ralph Vaughan Williams’ powerful masterwork, Dona Nobis Pacem, which translates to “Grant us peace.” Composed in 1936 between the two world wars, the evocative poetry of Walt Whitman alongside sacred scripture decries the horrors of war and makes a plea for peace.
Additional repertoire explores the human experience through the Americana roots of Jake Runestad’s Mountain Songs and the vibrant contemporary harmonies of Eric Whitacre, Δriks Ešenvalds and others.
Music allows us to journey to profound sacred places of the spirit, to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this earth or to enjoy the vision of people in joyous harmony. We hope you will join us for this evening of music in the pursuit of peace. Tickets are available online at the link below or at the door for the Saturday, April 25, 2026 performance.
