Description

A casual, non-competitive night bike ride through downtown Des Moines. Cruise the streets in the moonlight while supporting the children of Orchard Place. The ride starts at 9:30pm at one of four locations: Iowa Taproom, the Capital, Water Works Park or Rita's Cantina and Truman's KC Pizza Tavern. The route covers 13 miles and features the state capitol, East Village, downtown Des Moines, Pappajohn Sculpture Garden, Gray's Lake, and Water Works Park. Join us for a celebration at the Iowa Taproom following the ride, which will include live music and refreshments. Get yourself and your bike decked out head-to-toe and compete for a chance to win great prizes in the "Light Your Bike", "Best Helmet Lights", and "Best Costume" contests. Grab a team from your company, organization, club, family, or friends and compete for the Moonlight Cup. The team with the most registered riders will get to keep this trophy from year to year. This event is heavily dependent on volunteer participation. If you don't feel like taking your bike out for a tour of downtown Des Moines at night, then sign-up online to be a volunteer and get an event shirt for helping out.
