Description

The unofficial kick-off to the outdoor race season, the 34th annual Red Flannel Run, is Saturday, February 11th at the Wellmark YMCA in downtown Des Moines. Open to runners and walkers of all ages with a 5K or 10K option, all proceeds help make healthy living accessible to all through the YMCA’s financial assistance program. Businesses joining the movement as sponsors of the longest, consecutively produced race in the Des Moines area are Scrap Processors Inc., Holmes Murphy & Associates, Northwest Bank, RDG Planning & Design, iElectrical, LLC, ARAG, Kinetic Edge, Lawmark Capital, Plymouth Church, True Roots Chiropractic, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Fleet Feet, and Regenexx. Started by two single guys without dates on Valentine’s Day, the event has grown to a community of do-gooders dressed up in their warmest red flannel attire to raise awareness of the Wellmark YMCA and its mission of building community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
