Join us for First Friday at Mainframe Studios on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, from 5 - 8 p.m.! This special evening features Pen & Ink, an exhibition curated by Iowa artist Maddy Fusco. Showcasing works by 46 Greater Des Moines (DSM) artists, this multimedia exhibition celebrates the enduring power of pen and ink across diverse disciplines. From intricate drawings and expressive sketches to contemporary interpretations and experimental works, the show highlights the many ways artists transform simple lines into bold expressions of story, style and imagination.

Guests can create their own zine in a free, hands-on art activity led by Cat Rocketship, and enjoy a variety of food, drinks and live music by Ryan Lombard. Special event partner the Des Moines Art Center’s Print Club will share opportunities to be involved for collectors, printmakers and anyone curious about printmaking. As always, First Friday events are family friendly, free and open to the public, offering visitors the chance to explore open studios across all five floors, meet local artists and experience new works. With expanded overflow parking and a complimentary shuttle service, getting here is a breeze. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind celebration of creativity and community!
