Description: Experience a real-life, 19th-century western adventure! Follow Solomon Nunes Carvalho, a Charleston-born Sephardic Jew, as he travels west through Kansas, Colorado, Utah, and California with Native Americans, Mormons, and mountain men as part of explorer John Fremont's 1853 Westward Expedition. Becoming the first to document the trip through photography using daguerreotype, take a trip through time and see what America was like before the west was won! So grab some lunch then join us at the Community Room at the Learning Resource Center in West Des Moines for a Sunday afternoon matinee. Admission is FREE for all to join and there will be refreshments following. We hope you'll join us!
