Description
When the United States went to war with Spain in 1898, troops with the Iowa National Guard troops were federalized as volunteer soldiers and deployed to serve in Cuba, the Philippines and other parts of the United States. Learn more about this tense chapter of history from Iowa Gold Star Military Museum curator Mike Vogt, whose online "Iowa History 101" presentation is offered by the State Historical Society of Iowa to commemorate Iowa's 175th year of statehood. The event is free and will be recorded, but registration is required via Zoom.
