Hope+Elim Juneteenth Celebration | The Sounds of Freedom welcomes Will Keeps, The Isiserettes, Bridges 2 Harmony, Genesis Youth Foundation and more local talents on Monday, June 19.

Join us for our special Juneteenth Celebration to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The celebration will include powerful worship, inspiring spoken word, history through dramatic skits, Afrobeats dance and musical performances by local talents.

Regardless of a person’s background, place of origin, ethnicity, place of worship, gender, orientation, color of skin or political party, I pray that celebrating Juneteenth would inform, inspire and ignite a flame of hope that would burn in every heart, every ear and every soul. A flame that would lead to sustainable actions, attitudes and advocation of racial justice and racial equity in our local community, our city and in our nation.  I clearly recognize that we have come a long way since June 19, 1865, while at the same time we clearly still have a long way to go. The impact of slavery and oppression has had an accumulated affect that is still felt by African Americans today.
