Signature Downtown Events Recognized With International Awards
Two of the signature events in Downtown Des Moines were recognized on an international scale by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA). The Des Moines Arts Festival® and the Downtown Farmers’ Market have each won a number of awards during the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Ceremony held at IFEA’s 60th Annual Convention & Expo in Tucson, AZ on Monday. The IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards competition draws entries from the world’s top festivals and events.
The Des Moines Arts Festival® won a total of 26 awards, including the Gold Grand Pinnacle Award, the industry’s highest professional honor. In addition to the Gold Grand Pinnacle Award, the Festival won 7 Gold Awards, 12 Silver Awards and 6 Bronze Awards.
The Downtown Farmers’ Market won a total of 9 awards, including Gold Awards for the Best Cover Design, Best Single Newspaper Display Ad, Best Street Banner and Best New Merchandise. You can still experience the award-winning Downtown Farmers’ Market each Saturday through Oct. 31 in the Historic Court District.

The Downtown Farmers’ Market is presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines and produced by the Downtown Community Alliance. The Downtown Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday morning May – October in the Historic Court District in Downtown Des Moines.
