Chuck Klosertman Announced as Headliner at DSM Book Festival

2020 DSM Book Festival

December 12, 2019

DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (Dec. 12, 2019) – Chuck Klosterman, a New York Times bestselling author, has been announced as a headlining author at the DSM Book Festival. The 2020 DSM Book Festival returns to Capital Square in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) on Saturday, March 28, 2020. The event runs from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Klosterman is an insightful guide to American culture. In his bestselling, culture-defining books, he’s pinned down modern America like no one else. And in fun, funny talks, he not only cuts to the bone of our media-saturated moment, but makes it the site of our shared, unlikely commonality. Klosterman is the bestselling author of eight nonfiction books, including “Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs,” “I Wear the Black Hat” and “But What if We’re Wrong?: Thinking About the Present as if it Were the Past,” which debuted in its first week on the New York Times Bestsellers list.

Klosterman joins previously announced headlining author Lara Prescott. Prescott is the author of “The Secrets We Kept,” a New York Times Bestseller inspired by the true story of the CIA plot to infiltrate the hearts and minds of Soviet Russia with the greatest love story of the 20th Century: “Doctor Zhivago.”

In addition to internationally acclaimed authors, the DSM Book Festival will feature book club-style discussions led by featured commentators, hands-on activities, children’s programming, food, drink, live music and more. The 2019 DSM Book Festival was named the Best New Event by the International Festivals & Events Association.

Applications are open for local authors to present at The Festival. Festival authors can apply by Monday, Jan. 6.

The DSM Book Festival is produced by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Admission is free.

The DSM Book Festival has received a grant award from Humanities Iowa, a state-based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additionally, The Festival is being sponsored by Prairie Meadows, AViD, John Ruan Foundation, Kum & Go and Meredith Corporation. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by contacting Colleen Murphy at cmurphy@downtowndsmusa.com.
