Uniting Under One Banner ... or Scarf

Pro Iowa During COVID-19

May 7, 2020

Greater Des Moines (DSM) is vibrant, diverse and full of life. And DSM leaders continue to demonstrate their commitment to enhancing our community. As you look to legacy projects like Central Iowa Water Trails and Lauridsen Skatepark, you can see how Downtown DSM continues to grow in popularity as a cultural and sports destination.

The Pro Iowa movement aims to bolster these efforts with an iconic professional soccer stadium that serves as an anchor for the southern edge of downtown, energizes Iowa’s economy and unites people through shared experiences.

COVID-19 Relief Now

Now, as we all feel the impacts of this global pandemic, our community is looking for ways to support one another. What better way to unite people during this time but to ensure everyone has the resources they need?

In support of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, the Pro Iowa movement is encouraging donations to the Community Foundation’s Disaster Recovery Fund by offering a free Pro Iowa soccer scarf for all donations of $5.15 or more made through Sunday, May 10.

The Disaster Recovery Fund was created to develop a collective strategy for charitable giving during times of disaster and was activated in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, the fund has raised more than $843,000 to support Iowa’s vulnerable populations. Anyone who donates $5.15 or more between now and May 10 should forward the confirmation email they receive from the Community Foundation with their mailing address to info@ProIowa.com to receive their free Pro Iowa soccer scarf.

Supporting our Community

This isn’t the first time the Pro Iowa movement has partnered with our community to support one another, and as we continue to navigate these uncertain times, we will stay focused on uniting our city.

In March, the Pro Iowa movement worked to support local restaurants as owners across the state were forced to close their doors to dine-in customers. Nineteen gift cards valuing $25 each and one GoFundMe donation of $50 for restaurants across DSM were given away through Pro Iowa’s social media as an extension of the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s #DSMStrong campaign, creating new stories of hope and optimism.

The Pro Iowa movement is optimistic and hopeful for the future of our DSM community.

Named as the #13 Best Place to Live in the U.S. and #7 Best City for Living the American Dream, Greater Des Moines (DSM) is the fastest growing metro in the Midwest. Learn more about what it’s like to live here.

You can count on The Partnership to continue to share accurate and fact-based updates as well. See more on COVID-19 here.
