Take Me Out to the Ballgame: Downtown Workforce Day at the Ballpark

Downtown Workforce Day

August 21, 2023

Downtown Workforce Day at the Ballpark sponsored by MidAmerican Energy will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Principal Park at 12:08 p.m. Special thanks to Dan Houston, Chairman, President & CEO of Principal Financial Group®, for his idea to create this event as an opportunity for Downtown Des Moines (DSM) employees to celebrate working Downtown and enjoy an afternoon at Principal Park to socialize with their teammates.

Tips for Attending Downtown Workforce Day

  1. Clear your calendar for a few hours or change up an in-office touch-base meeting with coworkers to an out-of-office opportunity to clear your head and rejuvenate before you dive into your next project.
  2. Spread the word prior to the event. Between now and Sept. 13, send an email to your colleagues and let them know you plan to attend the Iowa Cubs vs. the St. Paul Saints game at 12:08 p.m.
  3. Bring your best baseball cap and Iowa Cubs gear to cheer on the team. Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen!
  4. Make plans to carpool. Corporate carpools have been shown to save time and reduce stress and fuel consumption to and from work, so why not add on to your carpooling for the event? Or, if you’re close enough, take a walk with your colleagues to get in some extra steps.
  5. Stay up-to-date with other surprise-and-delight events coming up yet this year and into 2024 by following Downtown DSM on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Downtown Workforce Day at the Ballpark is a great reason to come out to Principal Park for an afternoon of fun with friends and colleagues. When your company signs up early, employees could also have the opportunity to throw the first pitch or shoot the hot dog gun. Secure group tickets now by contacting Amanda Dale at amandad@iowacubs.com and mentioning Downtown DSM Workforce Day at the Ballpark.

Downtown Des Moines (DSM) is a growing, vibrant community that offers the energy, sophistication, housing and attractions of a burgeoning city with a brilliant future. It’s also easy to visit with plentiful and affordable street and ramp parking options.
