Community Day Game

February 8, 2023

The Iowa Wolves, the NBA G League franchise of the Minnesota Timberwolves, are excited to host their first-ever Community Day Game on Monday, Feb. 13 at Noon against the Stockton Kings.

The Wolves are active members in Greater Des Moines (DSM) and are eager to host this special weekday game catered to the Downtown DSM business community. For only $13, you can enjoy the game against the Kings and have lunch included with (a hot dog, small bag of chips and a can of soda or bottled water). If you would like to just attend the game, there is an $8 ticket offer without lunch included. Additional concessions are available for purchase throughout the game.

Community Partnerships

Community is important for the Iowa Wolves organization, which is proud to be a part of the Timberwolves’ Pack Gives Back. The Pack Gives Back is a social responsibility platform for the Wolves, Timberwolves, Minnesota Lynx and Timberwolves Gaming and Iowa Wolves. The platform encompasses all the franchises’ efforts surrounding social and community impact programs inclusive of the organizations’ employees, partners, players and the Fastbreak Foundation. Pack Gives Back initiatives support its communities 365 days a year with the crossover of NBA, WNBA, NBA2K League and NBA G-League seasons.

Iowa Wolves Read to Achieve

One of Iowa’s community impact programs is the Iowa Wolves Read to Achieve program which was created in partnership with Athene. Read to Achieve is a free literacy program campaign created by the Iowa Wolves and Athene to help children across Iowa develop a lifelong love of reading and to encourage adults to read regularly with them. In two years, nearly 7,000 students have completed the program.

Teen Basketball League

For another impactful program, the Iowa Wolves joined forces with the YMCA of Greater Des Moines and, in 2021, created a new teen basketball league for DSM. In two seasons, the Iowa Wolves Metro League has allowed hundreds of area high schoolers, who were not part of their high school basketball programs, the opportunity to continue playing basketball. With the help of the Wolves’ financial support, participants from across DSM pay a small participation fee and are provided a game jersey and a ten-week regular season with playoffs at the John R. Grubb Community YMCA.

Community Celebration Games

The Wolves and Principal® are partners with the Community Celebration Games presented by Prinicipal®. The two collaborate to present several meaningfully designed jerseys to elevate understanding of and celebrate the diverse cultures and backgrounds that make up the fanbase of the Iowa Wolves and the broader DSM region. Local organizations have helped create and present these unique player jerseys in celebration of the many diverse communities in Iowa with an ensuing jersey auction to benefit local nonprofits. This all showcases how art and sports can bring people together, benefit our community and expand horizons.

New for the 2022-23 season is the Iowa Wolves’ Community Ticket program sponsored by Landus. The community ticket program works with local and statewide nonprofits to distribute tickets to youth to attend Wolves games at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Iowa Wolves and their community partners will continue to work together to offer these and new impactful initiative and programs for the central Iowa community. For more information, please contact info@iawolves.com or visit iawolves.com.
