Description
Join The Des Moines Izaak Walton League's Mike Delaney on Tuesday, April 30 for a Nature Walk focusing on Birds in the Raccoon Watershed. Bring binoculars and put the Merlin App on your phones! Participants will walk the western wild loop of Waterworks Park. The walk will be one hour, approximately two miles, or 5,000 average adult steps, meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the Ikes Crum Outdoor Education Center, 4343 George Flagg Pkwy, Des Moines 50321 (Park Avenue and George Flagg Pkwy, North of Jethro’s Southside).
Participation is free and open to adults and dhildren who are able to walk two miles and want to learn about the out-of-doors. All youth (12 and under) will need an adult with them. No dogs. Dinner at the Ikes will be available for purchase after the walk for interested participants. This is the third of a series of Tuesday walks with Mike, stay tuned for future topics! Mike Delaney is a founding member of the Raccoon River Watershed Association, Iowa Upper Mississippi River Initiative Coordinator, State Conservation Director with the Iowa IWLA and a Professor Emeritus at DMACC.
