Sips, Samples And Sites Event Showcases Des Moines Architectural History, Unique Foods, And Local Brews

September 3, 2014

Young Professionals Connection (YPC) and the Greater Des Moines Partnership will host the inaugural Sips, Samples and Sites event presented by Confluence Landscape and Urban Design. The event features a guided walking tour provided by the Iowa Architectural Foundation (IAF), including stops at local establishments for food and beverage samples and socializing.

“It is a chance for new and long-time residents of the Des Moines area to gain a better understanding of how the city became what it is today and how we are moving into the future,” said Cory Sharp, an at-large member on the 2014 YPC Board and Intern Architect for FEH Associates, an architecture firm located in the Historic East Village.

The event takes place Friday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m., at The Levee on Court Ave. After a social half-hour, the walking tours begin at 6pm. Event registration: YPC members $15 and non-YPC members $20.

Founded in 1989, the Iowa Architectural Foundation (IAF) is the only charitable organization in the state to promote awareness and appreciation of architecture and design in Iowa. For more information about YPC, visit ypcDSM.com.
