Des Moines Downtown Winter Farmers' Market is This Friday And Saturday
DOWNTOWN DES MOINES, IOWA (Dec. 10, 2019) – The Des Moines Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines returns Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14. The Winter Market is at a new location this year at Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center. The Winter Market takes place from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day.
This year there are 150 vendors for patrons to explore, more than ever before. Shoppers can expect to find a variety of locally raised meats including beef, pork, lamb and holiday hams, and a variety of late season and greenhouse produce. There will also be an abundance of fresh handmade products including locally produced honey, jams, salsa, wine, cheese, noodles, breads, pies and cinnamon rolls. In addition, poinsettias, fresh cut Christmas trees, wreaths, handmade holiday ornaments and home decorations will be available. See a full list of vendors.
The Winter Market will also feature musical entertainment from local artists and family activities hosted by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.
New this year, the Iowa Finance Authority will host a free “Gingerbread Junction,” an effort to set a world record for the most people decorating gingerbread houses simultaneously. This is a celebration of the organization’s efforts in 2019 which led to assisting the most homeowners in purchasing a home in the program’s history. There will be enough supplies and space for up to 450 people to be decorating simultaneously. Those interested can join at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 in Hy-Vee Hall at the Winter Market.
“Explore the Winter Market as you make your final preparations for holiday parties and purchase gifts for friends and family,” said Downtown Farmers’ Market Director Kelly Foss. “This year’s new location at Hy-Vee Hall is a farmers’ market wonderland where patrons can explore a wide variety of vendors for all their holiday needs.”
