DuPont Pioneer To Expand Johnston Operations

November 26, 2013

DuPont Pioneer was awarded $3.6 million in financial assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority Board of Directors to assist in a proposed $50 million expansion of its Johnston campus.

The project is expected to create 105 jobs, and will include four components: a 26,500-square-foot expansion of the Mendel Controlled Growth Environment building; building improvements, new technology and equipment for research and development to Pioneer’s insectary; a 10,000 to 15,000 square-foot expansion of the Carver Building, which the company said is needed because of an increased need for conference and classroom space; and a 20,000-square-foot expansion of a new seed treating facility. The City of Johnston is providing tax increment financing rebates on the new buildings.

The Partnership’s Economic Development team continues to assist Pioneer with their expansion efforts.
