This Is One Thing You Should Do to Help Your Small Business

Des Moines Business Support Small Businesses

October 26, 2017

You know that saying, “Iowa nice?” Well, it’s true! The Trixies staff and I just got back from New York City for a hair conference. I don’t know how many times people said to us, “you’re not from around here, are you?” I finally asked what that means. The lovely gal said, “well you’re not in a hurry, you said thank you, and then called me honey!” I honestly didn’t think anything of it because all the people we encountered in New York City were awesome. It did really make me think though, how blessed we are to live in a city that people say “hi” to each other on the street, we hold doors for each other, honestly the list goes on and on. But what I love most about Greater Des Moines (DSM) is how we support our small business owners. Just look at the Historic East Village and all the excitement going on Downtown!

Downtown Des Moines (DSM) Embraces Trixies

We’re blessed at all three of our Trixies Salon locations that the surrounding communities have embraced us with open arms. Other business owners ask me all the time, what’s the one thing they should do to help their business? My response is the same: join your local chamber, but don’t just pay your dues, be active with them and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. I’ve met the best people to work with in DSM and some of them have become mentors to me. Don’t forget to also get out in your community and support and do volunteer work. We strive every day to be thinking about how we can give back to those that support us.

I can’t wait for the Small Business Success Summit and all the breakout sessions that will be taking place. I know some of the speakers personally and I can say they’re top notch at what they do. I always come back recharged with multiple ideas when I attend events with The Partnership! Can’t wait to see you all there.

The Small Business Success Summit will be the premier business conference of 2017. For more information, click here.
