Here's What You Need to Export Goods Globally

eCertify Greater Des Moines Partnership

April 16, 2018

Greater Des Moines’ (DSM’s) footprint and impact is increasingly global. Through agriculture, financial services and manufacturing, DSM is helping to feed and provide first class products and services to the world.

Outside of the U.S. lies 75 percent of the world’s purchasing power and 95 percent of the world’s consumers. We recently launched Global DSM — an initiative that establishes DSM as a global community to assist DSM business to tap into that market.

The initiative aims to bolster trade and foreign direct investment and leverage international talent. In collaboration with the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase, The Partnership has established DSM as a global player in foreign direct investments, trade and talent.

Certificates of Origin

One way The Partnership assists the region's exporters is by granting approval of Certificates of Origin for products shipped overseas. This is required by certain countries for tariff purposes, certifying the country of origin of specified goods. In 2012, The Partnership introduced eCertify, an electronic system for processing Certificates of Origin. The industry leading platform transforms the costly, time-consuming paper-based process for stamping and signing of Certificates of Origin into a streamlined electronic system.

eCertify

A marker of DSM’s continued economic vibrancy and global impact is revealed in the increasing usage of eCertify. In 2017, submissions were up 27 percent over 2016. We now have a total of 52 DSM companies registered with the eCertify program, including exporters and freight forwarders, and have had over 1,700 submissions to date.

Global Impact

The eCertify program assists DSM exporters to reach over 50 different countries including Australia, Brazil, China, India, South Korea, Russia, Germany and the U.K. easing the process to do business in those countries.

By utilizing eCertify, companies eliminate paper-based processes, increase turnaround time, increase record keeping, reduce manual data entry and have a dedicated eCertify Coordinator at The Partnership to assist in the process.

Expanding your market and exporting DSM products globally has never been easier.
