Food Bank of Iowa COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Food Bank of Iowa Relief Efforts

March 18, 2020

The Food Bank of Iowa is responsible for providing nutrition to 175,000 food insecure Iowans in 55 counties. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Food Bank of Iowa will continue these efforts and up their output to respond to a rapidly changing environment. As we rush to assemble food packs for drive-thru distributions, fill in for services lost through school partners and compensate for stressed pantry distributions, our food and material costs are quickly mounting. Help Food Bank of Iowa continue to feed children and families in Greater Des Moines (DSM) and across the state. With school closures, children are missing two to three meals they once received at school and, due to loss of income, low-income families are struggling to put food on the table.
