What inspired you to first get involved with your Chamber?

Ten years ago I started my business, 1809 Design. My dad was a Member and past-president of my hometown Chamber and I knew how important the Chamber was to his photography business. Belonging and getting involved with my local Chamber was vital to growing my brand new graphic design business.

What is your Chamber’s biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months?

Started in 2017, this is the second year for Clive Chamber of Commerce’s President’s Club. This extended package gives more exposure and exclusiveness to our business Members. Last year, 20 percent of our membership were Members of this Club. In 2018, it rose to 25 percent. As part of the President’s Club each year, the Chamber purchases a community betterment item on behalf of these Members. This year we donated building signage to Clive Community Services. The additional signage will help their clients and volunteers find the location easier.

Any initiative or project that you are looking forward to in 2018?  

In September, our Board of Directors will begin the process of creating a formal strategic plan for the next three-to-five years.  We are looking forward to completing it by early winter and sharing it with our membership.

What upcoming events should people watch for?     

On October 4, we will hold our first Ladies Night Bingo and Design Handbag Event. This is not your Grandma’s bingo. A portion of the proceeds will help create a scholarship fund for high school seniors. We will have wonderful prizes for each round of bingo and also a raffle for beautiful, authentic, designer handbags.
