Athene North Shore Receives Award from the National Recreation and Park Association
Athene North Shore Recreation Area at Easter Lake was recently presented the Innovation in Equity Award by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This national honor recognizes parks that expand access and create inclusive spaces for everyone, regardless of age or ability.
A Space for Everyone
Proudly sponsored by Athene and managed by Polk County Conservation, Athene North Shore has quickly become a go-to community destination. Polk County Conservation reported that more than 460,000 have visited so far in 2025.
Athene North Shore was intentionally designed to be accessible and create meaningful outdoor experiences for every visitor. It has even been referred to as the most accessible waterfront park in the country.

- Extra-wide concrete paths for wheelchairs and walkers.
