Altoona Chamber Q&A
Why should someone join your Chamber?
The Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce strives to connect our business members with our community/their consumers by offering a variety of social and professional networking opportunities throughout the year. We also provide professional development/training covering a wide range of topics relative to today’s corporate challenges or work environments as a benefit of their membership. We, as an organization, are extremely involved in all aspects
What is your Chamber’s biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months?
Each of our events have been hugely successful, even while in the process of hiring a new Event Coordinator. We’ve been working closely with the Outlets of Des Moines in preparation of their opening date and have helped facilitate our Retailer’s Council — a group of small retailers that meet once per month to develop special events highlighting our local entrepreneurs and driving additional traffic to their business.
Any initiative or project that you are looking forward to in 2017?
It is our number one goal to help our businesses find employees. Workforce development continues to be everyone’s biggest challenge so we’re hosting Career Fairs, working with Iowa Workforce Development and initiating conversations with the Southeast Polk CSD to generate some solutions to move through and survive this environment.
What upcoming events should people watch for?
