Prospective members join via the Go Polk City website.

What Inspired You to First Get Involved with Your Chamber?

Growing up in rural northeast Iowa, banks were always very community focused and strong supporters of community events. I believe this is very important, and investing in your local chamber is one, if not the best, way to give back to your community. As soon as I moved to Polk City, I wanted to be sure I got involved with Go Polk City right away.

What is a Signature Offering of Your Chamber?

New this year, Go Polk City implemented a QR code that takes the user directly to our website calendar page. The QR code has been added to publications and provided to our member businesses to display at their business. With so many visitors to town for recreation, it’s a great way to keep up to date on news and events for Polk City!

What is Your Chamber’s Biggest Accomplishment in the Past 12 Months?

Thanks to the support of our community and the Go Polk City Administrator’s awareness, all brick-and-mortar businesses were able to continue to keep their doors open during and through the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Initiative/Project Are You Looking Forward to in the Upcoming Year?

Polk City prides itself in being the “city for all seasons.” Go Polk City is collaborating with Polk City’s Parks and Rec to offer a signatures event in each season, including partnering with our Community Foundation by hosting a Winter Wonderland Gala on Saturday, January 15 to raise funds for future projects.

What Partnership Tools/Resources Have Been Most Beneficial to Your Chamber Members?

Dual Membership. Membership with Go Polk City also allows our members access to the Greater Des Moines Partnership resources. Go Polk City members utilize this benefit by being able to post job openings on The Partnership’s website to give them a broader reach of potential candidates.

What Are Your Upcoming Events?

Go Polk City is partnering with the Tournament Club of Iowa (TCI) for a series of new events called “Concerts on the Course,” the first being held on Friday, June 18, with live music by Bittersweet. Each of these concerts are sponsored by Cullen & Associates, including a Kids Craft Tent sponsored by the Polk City Community Library.

On Friday, July 16 the Polk City Classic Golf Tournament will be held at TCI with tee times starting at 11 a.m. This will be followed by “Concerts on the Course” with live music by Sister Sara.

The following day, Saturday, July 17 is the Four Seasons MiniFest, held on the Polk City Square, starting at 2 p.m. and sponsored by the City of Polk City and a number of member businesses. Live music will be held at Polk City’s American Legion Post 232.

On Friday, July 30 the third and final “Concerts on the Course” will be held at TCI, with live music by Lew & Brad Band.

Finally, Polk City is very pleased to be welcoming back WHO Channel 13’s RVTV on Monday, September 6.
