What Inspired You to First Get Involved with Your Chamber?

We were new to town and learned quickly that the Chamber would be a great place for us to meet people and build community connections.

What is a Signature Offering of Your Chamber?

We want to be a welcoming Chamber. Our goal is to make sure that both our current membership and our new members feel involved and connected. The GrowNorwalk Ambassadors have been hosting new member lunches where new members can learn about membership, meet the board and hear from other chamber members about their experiences.

What is Your Chamber’s Biggest Accomplishment in the Past 12 Months?

Navigating the COVID-19 pandemic has brought us the biggest challenge and also created some big leaps for our Chamber. We now have a dedicated community website that connects residents to events, COVID-19 info, updated restaurant info, shopping and resources for the food insecure. This project has been on the backburner and was launched to our priority list as our community was stuck at home and needed an information hub.

What Initiative/Project Are You Looking Forward to in the Upcoming Year?

We are looking forward to creating new online and drive-thru events. We have canceled many of our larger community events this year and hope to bring some of these to an online experience.

What Partnership Tools/Resources Have Been Most Beneficial to Your Chamber Members?

The Greater Des Moines Partnership has kept us updated minute-by-minute on what changes are ahead for our businesses and community. They were our lifeline during the shutdown as information was fluid and changing every minute. We were able to keep our businesses updated as everything unfolded and connected them to the resources they needed to survive.

What Are Your Upcoming Events?

The Norwalk Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Golf Outing will take place Wednesday, September 16 at Legacy Golf Course in Norwalk. The shotgun start will take place at 11 am. If interested, register at norwalkchamber.org.

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is the fourth largest regional Chamber of Commerce in the nation. Learn more about Partnership Affiliate Chambers, browse the Membership Directory and read additional Affiliate Chamber spotlights.
