5 Ways to Spend Grandparents Day in DSM

2021 Grandparents Day

According to the American Heart Association, recent studies suggest that grandparents and grandchildren with an emotional bond help grandparents ward off depression and lead a longer, more fulfilling life. With that in mind, we’re looking at five ways you can spend Grandparents Day, happening Sunday, Sept. 12, in Greater Des Moines (DSM). Here’s our top picks for time spent with Grandma, Grandpa, Poppy, Nan or whatever your loved ones go by:

1. Cabaret (Des Moines)

At 2 p.m., attend the Des Moines Playhouse rendition of Cabaret at the John Viars Theatre. The 1966 musical explores Berlin life as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich, and later became a film directed by Bob Fosse. Purchase your tickets ahead of time to make planning a snap.
