How Does a Business Join Your Chamber?
We like to meet with them beforehand to go over any questions they might have. Businesses can fill out an application found under the Membership Tab on our website or fill out a form.
What Inspired You to First Get Involved with Your Chamber?
I had an at-home business and was looking to expand my customer base. The Chamber is a great place to network and get to know people. After joining, I became a volunteer at events and have loved every minute of it! Fast forward all these years, and I was able to step into the role of Executive Director just a few short months ago!
What is a Signature Offering of Your Chamber?
Chill on the Hill is by far our greatest signature offering for our Chamber members. Chill draws in larger crowds from across Greater Des Moines (DSM), allowing our member businesses to interact with a wide variety of people. Those who volunteer or sponsor the event can have their brand on display to a large audience.
What is Your Chamber’s Biggest Accomplishment in the Past 12 Months?
Our biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months is continuing to grow our membership base. Membership is up by 36% since the beginning of the year, making a push back to pre-COVID membership levels.
What Initiative/Project Are You Looking Forward to in the Upcoming Year?
We received a grant from Meta for our Small Business Spotlight project. This is something that we are working on getting implemented and are looking forward to showcasing our Small Business members.
What Partnership Tools/Resources Have Been Most Beneficial to Your Chamber Members?
Our Chamber members always appreciate the wide array of learning opportunities available through the Greater Des Moines Partnership. As the Chamber Director, I appreciate the connections and resources that are always available to plug into.

Becca Squiers
Becca Squiers has been the Executive Director of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce for almost two years. She loves meeting with Chamber members to get to know how to serve them better. On a personal note, she loves karaoke and supporting the live music scene.
