2016 DMDC Trip Recap

Nearly 200 of Greater Des Moines' (DSM) business, civic and regional community leaders traveled to our nation’s capital and presented a federal public policy agenda to promote regional policy priorities and economic development projects during the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s 37th annual advocacy trip to Washington, D.C., on May 11-13, 2016.

Trip Opportunities

Throughout the three-day trip, participants had an opportunity to advocate for key issues facing the region. Participants met with members of Iowa’s Congressional delegation, the Administration and their staffs. The Partnership hosted keynote speakers Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and the delegation had the opportunity to hear from Senior Policy Advisors for the White House and Ambassador Richard Norland. Workshops focused on immigration, transportation, housing and a number of topics related to the Capital Crossroads vision plan. Policy discussions took place with Iowa’s Congressional delegation and their staff, focused on transportation, immigration, agriculture and health care. View the 2016 Federal Agenda.
