Iowa Barnstormers Military Night
Friday, May 23, 2025 | Wells Fargo Arena
It’s Military Night at Wells Fargo Arena, and the Iowa Barnstormers are suiting up in special jerseys (and playing with camo footballs!) to honor our Veterans and active-duty military. Expect high energy, big plays and plenty of patriotic flair as the Barnstormers take on the Tulsa Oilers. Doors open at 6 p.m. and kickoff is at 7:05 p.m., with tickets starting at just $18. Whether you’re a diehard fan or just there for the halftime show, this game is packed with heart, hype and a whole lot of appreciation for our servicemen and women.

CelebrAsian In Full Bloom | 50 Years Ray of Freedom
Friday, May 23 – Saturday, May 24, 2025 | Western Gateway Park
Downtown DSM is bursting into color (and flavor) with the return of CelebrAsian! This two-day festival is basically a passport-free trip through 15 different Asian cultures, featuring food, performances and hands-on experiences you won’t find anywhere else. Think lion dancers, cooking demos, traditional games, robotics and so much food you’ll wish you had a second stomach. From the iconic villages to the arts & crafts, CelebrAsian is a family-friendly celebration of heritage, history and community that’s been going strong for 22 years. Bonus: This year marks 50 Years Ray of Freedom, commemorating five decades since the resettlement of Southeast Asian refugees in the U.S. — adding even more meaning and magic to the weekend.

Cupcake Storytime: “The Grouchy Ladybug”

This one’s for the kiddos with a sweet tooth. Molly’s Frozen is hosting a whimsical Cupcake Storytime where children get to dive into the classic tale The Grouchy Ladybug, decorate cupcakes inspired by the story and sip on something tasty — all while wearing their very own chef hats. Led by a local Kindergarten teacher, this event blends storytelling, creativity and sugary fun in the most adorable way possible. Ages 5-12 are the target crowd, but younger cupcake lovers are welcome with a grown-up. Gluten-free and vegan options are available, though the cupcake designs will differ slightly. Civic Music Association Presents Belin Quartet

The Civic Music Association is bringing the Belin Quartet back for their 25th anniversary season, and you’re invited to a free outdoor concert right on the lawn of the Central Library.
