Art Vending Machines
- For: Downtown Des Moines (DSM) Employees, Visitors and Residents
- Location: Five locations throughout Downtown DSM, including Black Cat Ice Cream Downtown, Local Bites, Mainframe Studios, RAYGUN and Wellmark YMCA
- Cost: $1 (four quarters) per surprise artwork
- Collaborators: Operation Downtown and Mainframe Studios
- Featuring: Approximately 30 local artists
Art vending machines are bringing local art and an element of surprise to Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Located at five spots throughout Downtown, each machine accepts four quarters to dispense one surprise artwork created by a local artist.

The initiative features work from approximately 18 artists, making local art affordable and accessible while creating another reason to explore Downtown. Artwork and participating artists will change over time, providing opportunities to discover new artists and add original pieces to art collections.
