Mini Art Vending Machines

  • For: Downtown Des Moines (DSM) Employees, Visitors and Residents
  • Locations: Five locations throughout Downtown DSM, including Black Cat Ice Cream Downtown, Local Bites, Mainframe Studios, RAYGUN and Wellmark YMCA
  • Cost: $1 (four quarters) per surprise artwork
  • Collaborators: Operation Downtown and Mainframe Studios
  • Featuring: 18 local artists

Mini art vending machines are bringing local art and an element of surprise to Downtown DSM. Located at five spots throughout Downtown DSM, each machine accepts four quarters to dispense one surprise artwork created by a local artist. The initiative currently features 18 artists, making local art affordable and accessible while giving another reason to explore Downtown DSM. New artwork and participating artists will be added over time, creating opportunities to discover local artists and add grow your art collection.
